Swachh Gaon-Swastha Parivar

Health is major a issue in Jhabua. It has the highest mortality rate in children under five in the world. Families often have to take a loan from informal sources for medical conditions which traps them into a vicious debt cycle. ‘Swachchh Gaon - Swastha Parivar’ is an initiative under women leadership, the 'mother of the house' to take on various dimensions of health - ranging from medication to nutrition.

To cope with the nutritional deficiency, the villagers identified a set of 15 fruiting plants which they can grow in their in-house garden. The bundle consists of Mango, Neem, Jamun, Papaya, Lemon, Meetha Neem, Moringa, Tulasi, Jaam(Guava), Shehtoot(Mulberry), Seetaphal (Custard apple), Ramphal (Wild sweetsop), Amla, Belpatra and Giloy. The tribal families adopt the saplings and grow them like their children.

Every year more than 500 families adopted a set of these 13 saplings.

This rainy season 1500 Tribal families will be adopting the set of 15 saplings.

By contributing to this initiative, we serve three purposes at once

01 Contribution to the environment.
02 Serving the nutritional requirement of the family.
03 Paving a source for income for the family in future, a step towards self-reliance.
